Outdoor /adventure therapy
I have witnessed how the outside world can inspire those who have lost their way. Therapy sessions can range in location and physical effort based on an agreed upon activity.
Outdoor based movement psychotherapy uses the outdoor experience to gain further trust, problem solving, risk management and overcoming challenges. Using small adventures in psychotherapy enriches the interpersonal therapeutic relationship by discovering the hardships and stress that need restoration. Being outdoors provides a reset to establish an abundant life. Adventures have included; hiking, biking, SUP boarding, rock climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, surfing, swimming, fire making and gardening.
Adventure therapy takes advantage of outdoor experiences as a treatment to promote growth and development in physical, social, and psychological well-being. Experiencing new challenges can empower an awareness in learning new insights into managing everyday circumstances. Each adventure will offer opportunities to find metaphors in the natural world, create mental and emotional mapping, and restructure relational insufficiencies
